About

What GINC Bilateral is and who publishes it.

GINC Bilateral sets out how the world’s nations see their relationships with one another: 15,253 relationships between 218 nations and territories, each side rated on four dimensions: how intense the relationship is, which way it is heading, how far one nation depends on the other, and whether it leans to cooperation or rivalry.

There are four ways in:

  • Nations gives each nation its own page: where it stands on the four dimensions, its closest and most distant partners, where it and its partners see things differently, and every relationship it has.
  • Relationships sets any two nations side by side.
  • Dimensions takes each dimension in turn: how its scores fall, a network of each panel on it, and the pairs at either end.
  • The Index ranks the nations and shows the communities their strongest relationships form.

The Methodology page says what the ratings are, how the site reads them and what they cannot show.

The site is published by the Global Institute for National Capability.
